I have been the manager for CP1JV, XW8HJ, HI8XDF and HI8XDJ. I am presently the manager for W3XS/MM and KP4/KP2/HI3/W3XS.

I have operated as K3SWZ/VP9, K3SWZ/HI8, at CT2AA and W1AW/3 (PA)

I am an ARRL QSL Card Field Checker for the DXCC, WAS, WAC and VUCC awards and am also a QSL Card Field Checker for the CQ -- WAZ award.

I was active in the OSCAR Program in the AO-6 and AO-7 days, with over 1,000 QSO's

I made one 70 cm EME QSO in 1976 with WA6LET

USAF/PA ANG 1967-1973. AFSC 30770, "Telecommunications Systems Controller". Attended tech school at Keesler AFB in Mississippi in 1967 and was a member of the Keesler Amateur Radio Club, K5TYP. Discharged as a Tech Sgt. (E-6). Received the "Pennsylvania Service Medal" for duty during Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

Work History:

I am retired, having worked nearly 40 years in the world of "precision frequency control" with quartz crystal oscillators, frequency/time standards and quartz crystals. I have been associated with Greenray Industries, the former Piezo Crystal Company, the former CTS-Reeves and the former Techtrol Cyclonetics. I have authored several published industry papers on performance issues of quartz crystals and precision crystal oscillators.


I am married to Barbara, who is a retired high school English teacher (she taught for almost 30 years), since 1972. We have two sons and two grandsons. We enjoy following their Ice Hockey activities. 

My dad was K3UKO (SK) The Central PA Contest Club now holds that call.

I also hold an FCC General Class Radiotelehone License (former First Class)
