Current radios: Elecraft K3, ALS-1306, Two FT-857D, IC-7100, home brew 6M kilowatt from a Clipperton L with a pair of GI-7B russian tubes, DEMI 220Mhz transverter.

Enjoy antenna design and fabrication. Ony commercial antennas:HyGain Hytower and SDA100 mobile. Have 6 band quad, Completed 1650' sky loop at 60' average. Have 14 acres of woods (jungle). Have 4 dual-wire beverages for 8 different directions. 120' tower which has 2x7 element LFA 6M beams, one at 90' with TinyTic ring: 104 countries on E skip on 6M in past 6 years. 17 element: 2M, 220Mhz, and 70cm beams at 130'+. Worked most of eastern USA on 2M. MO is furthest contact on 70cm.  Worked as far as Montana on 2M E skip.  HyTower has 64 100' radials.  Modified HyTower with 160M inv-L and 30M vertical stub.  Just installed 40M 4 square, elevated with 8 radials per antenna.  Shortly I will install a full-sized 60M vertical with elevated ground system.

HyGain 54' crankup tower acquired for new 4x7 element LFA array for 6M.  Have all the materials now to fabricate the array spring of 2014.

Fabricated 4 24 element 70cm antennas, attached to H-frame. Have Az/El mount and hope to do EME soon.

Built N2PK VNA for highly accurate measurements. Also built 2M transverter for it.

Ex. EAA member, building several kinds of aircraft. Dragonfly, RV-9A, LongEz.  Dragonfly about ready to fly, RV-9A 75%wings, empenage complete.  RV-9A and Dragonfly are for sale.

Telescope maker, made several mirrors, working on 20" BVC, have 24" grinding machine.

2012-2013 installed new solar pv arrays up to 5kw.  Latest array was bought at a cost of $0.85/watt for the solar panels and $0.70/watt for the inverters (Enphase M215).  Now, as of 8-2013, price is down to $0.70/watt for pv, and $0.57 for microinverters.   Update on solar: price down to $0.65/watt on panels, $0.50 for inverters.  I get $0.055 /kw for my excess power.  Not much, but solar saves me $0.12/kw on A/C bill.

2012 installed two home made solar water heater collectors and 200 gallon outdoor storage tank.  It is a drain-back system with 300 feet of 1" PEX pipe as a heat exchanger inside the storage tank.  Spring and summer shows no trouble keeping the tank at 125 degrees F.  Only power is a small Grundfos pump to run water up to the solar collectors on the roof, then it gravity falls back into the tank.

I own the company MDS which makes digital rotor controls, RC1.

I have made quite a few products for MFJ including the following:DCU2, DCU3, SDC-104,YRC1.  Soon to be completed: K3 tuner clone board, SDC-105 screwdriver controller, LoopAntenna controller, YRC3.
