My family and I have lived in Virginia Beach since 1984, where we remained after I retired from the Navy. I was privileged to have had 24 years of military service, including 5 years in the Army, which I entered in 1965 upon graduating from high school. Following basic training at Fort Ord, CA, I was assigned to the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School at Fort Belvoir, VA, from which I obtained a Regular Army appointment to West Point, entering in June 1966 with the Class of 1970. Following graduation, I was commissioned in the U.S. Navy where I served in a variety of assignments, including duty in Vietnam as an advisor with Task Force 212 (RVN Riverine Forces), a tour as the Supply Officer of the USS Santa Barbara (AE-28), and many other jobs in a variety of operational and staff assignments, primarily in petroleum logistics at NSC Charleston, NSC Oakland, COMFAIRMED (Naples, Italy), the Navy Petroleum Office, and on the staff of the Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Following my retirement from the Navy, I established a small business and for 15 years provided operations, maintenance and security services to the Defense Logistics Agency at a number of government owned bulk fuel storage facilities. I am relatively new to amateur radio, having been licensed in 2010, obtaining my Amateur Extra license in December 2013. I operate an ICOM 746 Pro using a WindomHSQ at a height of 45 feet. Thank you very much for the QSO and I hope to meet you again soon on the air.
