Hello to all. My name is Wayne and I live in Huntsville, AL. My wife Karen and I moved from New Hampshire to the southeast in 1996. After 28 years with Raytheon Co., I decided to join a small engineering firm to support various DoD contracts. We have enjoyed working with UAV's, command, control, and communication systems and a variety of other projects including radio. Shown is one of the projects we were privileged to work on in the past. This is the Customs and Border Protection UH-60M helicopter that is being upfitted with a sophisticated suite of electronics to enhance its mission capability.
I have just retired and I want everyone to see the fabulous gift that I was presented at my retirement party. This Collins gear was collected over a period of years by my friend and colleague Pat Freet, K9PF. I am the proud new owner/operator. Thanks to all of you for the gift.
In the pictures below, you will see a 1974 Wilson MT-55 tower that I have restored and re-installed at my QTH. Behind the tower is my new radio room with integrated storm shelter under the floor (See Picture Below). I didn't expect to use it as often as I have, but it has been worth its added cost. As you know, on April 27th, 2011, multiple EF5 tornados hit the state of Alabama and many people lost their lives. One of those tornados passed very close to our QTH and we were at glad to have our new safe room. The EF3 tornado pictured below is from March 02, 2012 and went just 2 miles north of our home.
I finally have a picture of the finished shack. It is viewed looking out towards the tower (east). I have also included a picture of my new tractor. Lots of fun and it sure beats a shovel and push mower. I have also added a picture from my other (numerous) hobbies, photography.
Thanks for visiting and please come back.
