After living in the Savannah Ga. area since '74, I moved in March 2010 to a new QTH on a 5 acre tract about 30 miles west of Savannah.
Working conditions: Elecraft K3 driving an Acom 2000A. Added an Elecraft KPA500 Amp & P3 Panadapter to the shack in Dec 2011. Primary antenna is a DB18 SteppIR which is a 3 element antenna (6 to 40m, with 2 elements on 40) on a 70 ft US Tower tublar crankup. Also have a 55 ft tublar tower with a 5 EL, 10m yagi on a 24 ft boom by Hy-Gain & a 80 meter, 67 ft. freestanding vertical by Zero 5 with 90, 66-67 ft. radials (6,000l/f of wire). This was my first big vertical install project and did NOT know just how much time it would take to put down all those radials! In Jan. 2013, a "Sky Loop" was added to my antenna inventory. It could best be described as an unequal octagon; about 635 ft long with an average height of about 45 ft., feed with 450 ohm ladder line into a Palstar HF-AUTO Tuner via 9:1 balan. In October of 2014 I replaced all Array Solution Antenna Switches because they had become unreliable with DX Engineerings 8 port, 10KW/CC-8A antenna switching system.
For portable operating, I use an Elecraft K3 or a KX3 plus there KXPA100 watt amp. Tybee Island Light House (USA 964) is nearby an we always enjoy operating from there.
The "Go Box" pictured includes the following: KX3, KXPA100, PX3, ClearSpeech DSP Speaker & Power Supply, SPS-30DM by Power Werx. This combination was first used on Veterans Day 2015 at the Mighty 8th Air Force Day Museum, Special Event, using our Club Call; WW2COS. When Activating NPOTA Sites, this is the rig I use.
Lost my dear wife Anne, of 32 years to Multiple Myeloma cancer in April, 2006 and retired in June the same year to enjoy this wonderful hobby an be a "Dog Daddy" to my 4 legged children!!!
Thanks for looking us up!
