Click for more detail... I was a Junior in High School (1956-57)when I was invited to go to a Club Meeting. We drove over to a guys house and there were several men sitting around a table in the back yard. This was the weekly meeting of THE REFUGIO AMATEUR RADIO CLUB. They told some of the greatest stories and tried to teach me code and some electronics. It was not untill 1961 while going to Durham's Electronics Collage in San Antonio that I got my Novice ticket (KN5HFY). Two months later I passed the General written, that made me a Technican Class. 39 years later I Grandfathered to General. I have met a lot of Great people in the Ham ranks and I even made my living as a Ham for a while, Amateur Electronics, Inc. In Dallas. Those were fun days. I have served several years on the Board of the B-VARC, Brazos Valley A R C. I am enjoying the Low Bands now and hope to talk to a lot of friends, old and new. 73, Claude..
