Click for more detail... If I am operating Mobile, this is the truck I am in when I am talking to you. I have been very fortunate to talk allover the USA and to countries from France, Spain, Russia, Columbia and many more with this set up. I plan to always operate at 100W or less. We hoped to light up rare Texas counties, but work schedules did not permit an early friday departure. So instead, we stayed in counties local to the QTH and still had a blast with over 300 Qs on SSB and several pileups! Thank you to all that took the time to talk to us!
The rig is typically a barefoot Yaesu FT897 with LDG AT-200 Pro Tuner coupled to a Lakeview Hamstick. You can find us on 20M, 40 M and 6 Meters SSB. We have a tent for the back of the truck. It was handy here in the Monahan sand dunes during a previous TQSO, there were scorpions everywhere!
Sometime you might contact me Equine Mobile! This is Clyde. Our family rescued Clyde from certain death. He was on a feed lot near a PMU ranch in Canada. He is a by-product of a pregnant mare used for the extraction of urine for hormones to make estrogen. Clyde, being a male, would have been slaughtered for his meat and shipped to a European country, but instead we had this rare-breed Clydesdale shipped to us. He was less than 1 year old when he arrived, and is now about 2 and still growing! He has a great attitude and is beautiful whether standing or running and certainly worth far more than horsemeat!
During contests I likely have my better half with me, K5RAU. She studied for and recieved her Ham license just to surprise me! She enjoys logging, navigating the wrong direction and loves storm spotting! Here we are enjoying the rare cool weather of a Texas winter! OPERATION: Unless I am brain-dead, I will break and make time for QRP, Mobile and DX countries if I find myself in a pile-up. Remind me if I don't! K5NOT Stats: HAM since 2000, primary interests in antenna fabrication and High Altitude (~100K ft+) Balloons. Enjoys working AMSAT Leos when I get a chance. Enjoys working with all radio communication systems and people interested in communications and support. Actively employed in design and manufacture of Automatic Meter Reading radios in the 900MHz ISM band. You may catch me mobile on 6, 20, 40 or 80 meters SSB.
