K5VRC was originally held by Ralph Meadors (pictured approx.1960) of Alma, Arkansas from 1959 until the time he became a silent key in October, 1972. Ralph was active in Army MARS, Field Days and Elmering young hams from the Alma area. His grandson, Stan Ross, was licensed in 1971, just one year before Ralph's death. Stan later chose the callsign K5VR in 1977. In 1999, the Van Alma Radio Club was formed and chose K5VRC in memory of Ralph. Please contact k5vr (at) arrl dot net for more information on the club.
