I guess I will always be trying to improve my SO2R abilities. The desk in this picture is my attempt to make an ergonomically acceptable contesting postion from which I can run my station. All the automation is now done by an Automation Direct programmable logic controller and the control boxes you see in this old picture have been replaced by a single touch screen that changes as I change bands. The touch screen displays only the antennas available on the band chosen. My antenna line up is: 160 - Phased pair of elevated radial verticals, NE, SW, NW/SE 80 - 4-square (elevated radials at 15'); 3 element delta loop NE 40 - Rotatable 4 element at 160', rotatable 2 element at 130', fixed NE 3 element quad at 110', fixed SE 2 element at 70' 20 - Rotatable 5 element at 140', fixed NE 5 element at 90', fixed SE at 60' 15 - Rotatable 5 element at 110', fixed 6 elelment at 80', fixed SE 4 element at 50' 10 - Rotatable 5 element at 120', fixed 5 element at 70', fixed NW element at 45' TH-7 @ 45" 4 1000' beverages NE, NW, SE and SW. I am primarily a CW contester but I seem to do better in SSB contests (much to my embarrassment). I enjoy contesting and hope to move up from being a participant to being a competitor, but there are so many really great operators and stations out there that the hurdle is veryhigh. ;-) I have fun either way though! cul, Bob K5WA Last modified: 2011-12-26 06:52:57, 1565 bytes cached
