Click for more detail... First licensed in Jan 1960, as KN5ZOL. First signal report was 444 with homebrew 40 mtr running 25 watts to 6L6 and long wire antenna and SX-99 rvcr. Went off the air when I went to college. Got advanced license in 1968. Operated HL9TY from Korea while on active duty with Army Signal Corps. Was active from 1969 to 1976. Went QRT until summer 1999. From 1999 to Spring 2005 I did a most hamming from our farm in Fannin county. Mostly 40 thru 10 meters, SSB and cw (trying to re-build my cw ability). Had 5 el long johns for 15 and 20 in the air just in time for the CQ ww DX contest 2001. Between August and Oct of 2005 our place was broken into and everything was stolen. Beginning to rebuild the station at the ranch. As of Dec. 2007 back on the air from the home QTH with a IC-7000, Drake T4XB and R4A and SB200. Antennas are a ladder line fed dipole above the chimney and a long wire. Trying to improve my cw. SKCC member # 3945T and FISTS Nr is 13912. Still think QSLing is a great part of this hobby. I QSL direct & via bureau.. Running low power (100watts or less) cw is as much fun as it was back in 1960 when I was a novice. If you hven't looked into the Straight Kep Century Club or FISTS and enjoy cw....they are great groups of cw enthusiasts and I am enjoying getting to know them. Hope to C U soon on the air.
