What more can I say, I love ham radio. Almost as much as I love fighting fire. I have been in the fire service on and off for 13 years. Currently I am a Volunteer Fire Apparatus Engineer for the Ukiah Valley Fire District.

So more about me I guess. I am married to a beautiful woman named Charla, who I love very much. We have 3 kids, Connor who is 5, and Casey and Cameron, the twins, are 3. I am all about my family. Connor is chomping at the bit to be a ham operator.

I am a member of The World Famous Chicken Net club so feel free to check that out at www.chicken.net or check out our chicktastic club page here on www.qrz.com . Our call sign is W6CKN. Better yet... Become a fan on Facebook. Just search for The World Famous Chicken Net!

I run a Kenwood TS-570S for HF with a MFJ Versa Tuner II, a Alinco 721 for 440, a Motorola Spectra for 2 Meter FM, a Motorola Syntor XX9000 for 6 Meter FM and a Radio Shack scanner for listening to anything else. I also gate APRS packets to the internet at my place using a Bendix King LPH and the AGW Packet Enginer on my Toshiba Satellite laptop that is only used for gating the APRS packets via UI-View32 and I use my ham log program on it as well which is N3FJP's Amature Contact Log. My workhorse laptop is a HP DV9500. All of my radio equipment is runs off a very large sealed battery behind my desk that is continuously charged by a small 13.3 volt charger. This keeps me going for hours during the occasional power outage.

This is my "ham shack" as it is today. Its actually just my little corner in the dinning room.
