ATTN: Due to problems with my 1st name (Merle), on all contests that require a name in the exchange I will be using the name (TOM). My middle name is Thomas. This should help things during contests.

QSL INFO: Please qsl via direct, eqsl (AG) and LotW. No SASE is needed but it's ok to send one.

MEMBERSHIPS: EPC #4379--PODXS 070 #753--10-10 #42294--30MDG #2355and the SDXA (Spokane DX Association)

LICENSE HISTORY: Novice; 1987 call; KB7AFO
Tech; 1988 call; N7KOM
General;2001 call; same
Vanity; 2008 call; K7EIQ
Extra; 2008 call; same The vanity call was my father-in-laws. He was a silent key in 1972. My xyl's family was pleased so I guess that is a good thing.

HOBBIES: I read mostly sci-fi and fish for anything that bites!

PERSONAL: I will be 65 this year and a retired telephone tech with the Bell System, married in 1983 and raised 6 childred (I was a slow learner).

CURRENT STATION: Yaesu FT-2000, Icom-718, AT180 tuner, MFJ-989d tuner, AL-811H amplifier, Mosley MP33N/WARC Tig-Array Antenna up 31 feet with a 40m kit TA-40-KR added, Signalink USB and Rigexpert Tiny Interfaces. I have converted an old Hustler 5BTV to a 6BTV to get 30 meters. It seems to work ok. I have a 6m system setup up using a M2 6M5XHP antenna now, plus a True-Talk G5RV inverted V up 36'.

I have a couple of straight keys and one paddle (I can't use either one very well so I use a computer on CW until my skill level increases). And of course the usual assortment of mics, antenna tuners, tnc's, watt/swr meters, computers and all the usual junk HAM's collect over time.

MODES: I use mostly BPSK31/63 and RTTY. I'm still re-learning CW and getting back into SSB (my least favorite mode). Have added JT65-hf. Lately more JT65-HF used than anything else.

MISC: I live on 20 acres in snow country and spend a lot of time plowing snow. It has not snowed much this season. I guess that's it for now. Good DX to all in 2014. See ya 73 Merle K7EIQ updated Jan 26, 2014.
