Click for more detail... The picture above was taken at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The man on the left is Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. The guy on the right is me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- I first obtained my Novice license February 15, 1974 when I was thirteen years old. Got my General in 1976, Advanced in 1980, and Extra license in 1981. Previous callsigns are WN8RMS, WB8RMS, and K9RMS. I spend almost all my radio time on 40 meters (SSB). One of my favorite hobbies is building and experimenting with big wire antennas for 40m, 80m, and 160m. Currently, I have a 11-element 40m wire Yagi at 50' beaming due West. The total boom length of the West antenna is a little over 360'. I have another driven element and one director on the East side of the reflector element that I can switch to, which makes it a 3-element Yagi beaming East (its boom length is about 42 feet). I also have a 75m Horizontal Delta loop at appx. 35' high and a 160m Inverted "L". For 2m I have a "Slim Jim" antenna pulled up in a tree at about 50'. Station equipment: Kenwood TS-440s, Kenwood TS-830s, ICom IC-781, Kenwood TS-520S, Ameritron AL-80A amplifier, Palstar AT1500DT Antenna Tuner, IC-T7A 2m HT, and an IC-V8000 (75W 2m FM XCVR). Most of the equipment listed above was given to me by my generous and loving brother, Tom (WA8DXD). Thanks Tom!! Last modified: Sun Mar 15 10:56:27 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
