Click for more detail... Also known as Bill. Have been a mobile HF operator since first becoming licensed as a Novice in 1981. I enjoy HF Mobile and operating with the combined Columbia, SC ham clubs during Field Day. My son, Will (AF4QR), got his novice ticket at age 12. I did not allow him to use phone privileges until he got his 13 wpm code and General class license. He did not like it at the time but has since thanked me for making him concentrate on the code. He has held all 5 US Lincense Classes and at age 14 became a (20 wpm) Extra Class operator. My wife agreed to take a novice class course years ago after making me promise to do a lot of Honey Do's. She is still not licensed. I still had to do the Honey Do's promised and she now knows how much my Ham Radio Equipment Really Cost. Please think before trying to get your spouse licensed. UPDATE 10/2006 My wife Debbie decided to get her ham ticket. She spent time learning & reading the material we had available and some of the methods she used to remember the answers is hard to believe or for me to accept but she did it. She is now KI4PTH and is getting the hang of it and beginning to really enjoy the hobby. She has also decided to go for her General Class and has started attending a CW class. Watch out everybody...
