UPDATE FEBRUARY 2011.....

I am currently back in Lake Havasu City, Arizona operating portable as KB0SWN/W7. My modest little low profile station here consists of a Yaesu FT-840 which is my first HF rig that I bought new after I got my Tech Plus ticket. Love this little rig!! No amp here...running 100 watts of bare bones Yaesu power thru the coax. Antenna is a Barker & Williamson broadband folded dipole up about 50 feet to the peak with the ends around 40 foot off the ground in an inverted "V" configuration. This is a GREAT antenna because no tuner is needed for 20m thru 6m. When there is 10m activity, I hook to a Cushcraft 3 element 10 m Yagi antenna, or the Cushcraft AR-10 to go vertical..Station is powered by an Alinco DM-330MV 32 amp switching power supply. Sony Vaio laptop computer running Internet with DX Summit spotting, EchoLink, and WIN-EQF logging system.

MY LIFE IN GENERAL AT THE HOME QTH IN MINNESOTA.......

I was born in November 1966 in a little town on the MN/CANADA border called International Falls, MN., is where I currently reside most of the time.I work heavy construction for a living, mostly water and sewer underground utilities. My job keeps me very busy with long hours, and lots of travel, but I still try to get on the air whenever I can. I am married to a beautiful Peruvian lady named Alicia Rocio (she likes to go by her middle name Rocio), and we like to travel to Peru when we have the time.

First licensed in 1995 as a Technician, then went to Tech. Plus in 1998. Currently hold a General class license which I earned in 1999.

I run a very basic station consisting of a Yaesu FT-840 transceiver, always barefoot - no amp here. Antennas consist of a Cushcraft Ten-3 which is a 10 meter 3 element yagi and a Cushcraft AR10 which is a 10 meter vertical both at 25 feet. Also use a broadband folded dipole made by Barker &Williamson on a Rohn 50' push up pole, with the ends around 40' off the ground, currently broadside tothe east and west. No tuner needed with this dipole, but I have anMFJ 949E tuner I use with some of my other wire configurations.. Station is powered by an Alinco DM-340MV power supply.

My passion is SSB DXing. I love looking for new countries on all the different bands. I am an active member of the Northland Amateur Radio Association which is the local club here in Minnesota, and also a member of Radio Club Peruano in Lima, Peru. I was appointed by the ARRL Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) as Emergency Coordinator for Koochiching County in 1997, and I am a severe weather SKYWARN spotter for NOAA National Weather Service.

MY DX SPOTTER!!!

Other hobbies include fishing, astronomy, camping, traveling, R/C model airplanes, bicycling, being outdoors, and I am a big NASCAR racing fan.

Thanks for stopping by my QRZ web page and hope to hear you on the bands!

73's de Jodi KBØSWN

UPDATE 2009..... I am currently in Lake Havasu City, AZ. working portable as KB0SWN/7. Station here is very basicas well consisting of a Yaesu FT-450AT transceiver running 100 watts stock power. Antenna here is a Barker and Williamson broadband folded dipole good for 20m - 6m. Station is running on battery power, and I am using WIN-EQF logging program.
