IF you notice the picture facing out from the antenna.  You will see it is enclosed on three sides. A friend brought an altimeter over and it shows 634 feet above sea level. The elevation on top of  the hill, on Spaulding street, behind it is 724 feet. That is a 90 foot rise from the base of my antenna to ground level. Hills on the perimeter of the valley Barre sits in average about 1635 feet and start behind us and go in a circle. The airport is west about 3 miles at 1634 feet. The back yard is pie shaped 15 feet wide at narrow end 24 feet wide at wide end and about 35 feet long. If you click on the picture above you will see my “J” pole for 2 meters, antennas are a Hamstick on a PVC pipe for 75/80 Meters, a Super Big Stick for 40 through 10 meters and a  70 CM 5 element homebrew beam. A a homebrew Ringo for local VHF 2 meters simplex not seen.

I do the Early Bird net at 3.940, The Carrier net at 3.935, the Green Mountain Net at 3.933, I am net manager for the Good Morning Vermont net and the Good Night Irene Net both on the local repeater 146.625. Most of my DX is either on 10 meters or PSK on 40, through 10 meters. The rest is usually done on Echolink. I like to talk to folk I may some day meet. I do the PSK partly because I have a hearing problem and fewer misunderstandings that way. I like to refer to the QTH as the CAVE (Coverd About by Vertical Elevation).

My varied career started out training to be an auto mechanic, and then decided I like electronics better. Worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 10 years. Of course railroad retirement says it was less so they don’t have to pay me. I went to work the first Monday in June in 1960 and left the last Friday of July 1970 to go to Bible College. Had my own two way radio business to support my family through 1983 when I went to work for Liberty University in August 1983. Semi retired from Liberty in June 18th 2004. Continued in the ministry until bad health forced my retirement in 2006. Pastored First Baptist Church Evington Virginia, Maranatha Baptist Church south of Lynchburg and then moved to Vermont to pastor East Peacham Baptist Church, now serve as an Elder and Associate Pastor of Faith Community Church in Barre, VT as my health permits.

Became interested in Amateur Radio as a child when one of my cousins did. (He went on to become a radio operator for the USAF. and Played football on the USAF team). In 1953 my dad and I took a course from National Radio Institute (NRI). Then I went back and took more later under the GI bill from Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Attended Florida State Baptist College, BS from Liberty, MDiv from SATS and had to drop out of the THD program due to congestive heart failure. "Have Bible Will Preach."

If you aren’t tired of hearing about me by now I am tired of it.

Have a great and Godly Day. 73 Wayne
