Greetings I have been a ham operator since 21 Aug 08.  I was introduced to the hobby back in the mid 1970's while in the Boy Scouts.  As a member of Troop 167 in Ware, Ma one of the Asst. Scoutmasters was a ham operator.  He took the radios where ever we went.  We went to his home and he showed us all the Heathkits he had built.  That did get me very interested but I did not have the money for the kits, and felt I could not learn the code.  So I put  the hobby on the back burner for a while.  I joined the Air Force in 1980 and found that there were many members that were or wanted to be amature operators.  I did talk with them, and learned more of the hobby from them.  I left the Air Force in 1992 but by then I was married and we had five children so now money was a factor once again.  As our children grew, and life moved on I became self employed then amature radio came back to the fore front of my thoughts once again.  My brother had since been licensed and I started to study.  I passed and off I went, and here I am.  Special thanks to all who have been there to asst me as well as help me in times of frustration.  And a big hello to all who I will get to know through the hobby.

My shack has a Yaesu FT-897 with a Yaesu MD-100 Microphone, FT-2800M, and I have a Mystery, Diamond 2 meter, and a Sigma IV anttennas.  I also have a Yaesu FT-1802 in the car with a Larson antenna.
