Hello to all who browse my Biography.
Well I have updated my Ham shack now. The rig here is a Icom 706MKIIG and a Icom 751A. I've got a new Bobtail curtain for 30-80 meters and up at 65 feet also a new Tower with a 6 band Hexbeam at 33 feet. Lastly is my Inverted "L" for 160.I also use an Ameritron amplifier too if need be. I just got a new addition to the shack an Alpha 76CA which has three - 8874 metal ceramic tubes for full legal limit. I'm looking forward to heating up the shack with it soon HI!
I like the HF bands and I operate on all of the bands but mainly on 17 meters. I enjoy all modes cw and phone so you might hear me pounding out some cw some where. I can be heard also on the digital connection PSK31,RTTY,Packet both HF and VHF. You may hear me letting loose some old hunting tales of the one that got a way. I say that because I am an advid hunter.
I've tried something new and that is working satellites, I've been working UO-14 as it passes over. The newest satellite is AO-51 or ECHO this is fun HI HI when you use a dual band ht, so give the Satellites a try. I tell my friends about what I am doing with the radio hobby now and I tell them that it is over their heads , meaning the satellites HI HI .If interested email me and I will send the link to my web site for you to take look around.
Well I need to add one more thing, I have just started working HIGH SPEED METEOR SCATTER (HSMS). I was surprised what you can do when the band seems dead. I have made a few contacts using this mode and is very interesting how it works. I use my computer and sound card interface with this WSJT program BY K1JT to make this magic happen. OPPS!!! NEED TO SAY NEED THE METEORS TO REALLY MAKE IT HAPPEN HI HI . But none the less this shows the many facets of HAM radio. If interested email me and I can hopefully get you started on the adventure
I've played with many different modes and antennas in this hobby, I may not be doing many of the above now but may get back to some of them later. Now I'm on 160 and learning what TOPBAND is all about Trust me it is not like the rest of the bands and I feel that if it were easy many others would also be on 160. I've been lucky, I chat on SSB every morning with a great bunch on 1.865.0 and also found another group I check in with in the evenings on 1.900.0 . These groups have made me feel welcomed and have been very helpful to me. I must say it is refreshing to find such groups on the radio to welcome someone new and encourage them in what ever they can
DX on 160!!! Yes!!! Again I've been lucky to work , G3JMJ, VK3ZL, KV4FZ , M0UNN and a few more So it can be done , and very challenging. It is FUN!!
If you wish to qsl with me you can either email me the qsl or go to eqsl.cc on the web. I will be sending all my cards out this way . I was told about the eqsl.cc from a fellow ham , so check it out . See ya on the air waves soon 73 de KB4ZGO
