Hello, My name is Bernie Horstkamp. I hold a General Class Amateur Radio license. I received my Novice ticket in January of 1985 at the age of 15 in Napa Valley California. I upgraded to General shortly there after. Currently, I operate HF, VHF and UHF from my primary QTH as well as my vacation/weekend QTH. My interests in Amateur Radio include Ragchewing and chasing DX. I accept QSL cards by mail with no SASE necessary as well as E-QSL's (www.eQSL.cc). I prefer E-QSL's. Please take a moment and add your callsign to my contact log which is located in the blue strip just above the Yaesu logo. My primary QTH is located in Saratoga, California. Saratoga is adjacent to San Jose, California in the Santa Clara Valley. San Jose and the surrounding Santa Clara Valley is known as the "Silicon Valley". San Jose is the birthplace of the Personal Computer and home to numerous "High Tech" computer companies such as Apple and to Hewlett Packard (HP). San Jose is also the home to the internet auction site E BAY. Saratoga is situated 48 miles/77 km South East of San Francisco California in the South Bay Area. My vacation/weekend QTH is located in a small mountain town in the Sierra Foothills - Twain Harte, California. The town is named after the authors Mark Twain and Bret Harte and sits at an elevation of 4150 feet. Twain Harte is also known for being located in the middle of the California "Gold Country". The Kenwood TS-530SP that I operate with at my Twain Harte QTH, I purchased new from HRO 26 years ago when I received my Novice ticket. Over the years, I've collected the entire station that you see in the picture below. Recently, I replaced the tubes in the TS-530SP and breathed new life into the rig. What a difference new tubes make!! Stations can actually hear me now!! The station is an apsolute blast to operate!!
When I'm not on the air, I enjoy 3D archery. Get serious! Get Hoyt! Thanks for the QSO! I look forward in chatting again soon! Good Health and Good DX Best Wishes and 73's Bernie
