I am a retired steel worker, who worked at a local plant in Duquesne Pa, that no longer exists. While I was happy working for the steel company for many years, I was unhappy to see its demise, along with other steel plants in the Pittsburgh Pa area, in the mid 1980s. Most have been cleared and await development. Some have seen the construction of new businesses on those sites.

I have been on several 'hamcation' dxpeditions to Grand Cayman Island in the 1980s. Me and my friends had a great time operating as Dx from our hotel 'The Pan Cayman House'. It is my understanding that 'The Pan Cayman House' has been torn down and a new hotel built in its place. It is great fun to go on one of these 'hamcations'. I urge you to do it, if you can. Me and my friends had a great time meeting the Grand Cayman radio hams. They are quite an active group. They operate an open two meter repeater on 146.76 Mhz. You can find more information about their club, The 'Cayman Amateur Radio Society' at:  http://www.caymanhams.org/
You should be able to find information on obtaining a Cayman Island Amateur Radio License by contacting the A.R.R.L. by either phone or email, to obtain the proper form, and instructions on how to apply for a license. A Cayman license is based on your national radio license privileges. A license is required to bring in radio equipment to the Cayman  Islands.

Lately my ham radio interests have included:
Working Dx stations from all over the world. My Dxcc count is in the mid 250s.

Participating in as many Two Rivers Arc activities as I can, including:

Playing with and operating the Two Rivers ARC Packet BBS, operating on 145.09 MHz, from my home in the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh Pa..

Helping with the operation of the Two Rivers ARC Repeater.

Any and all club meetings, dinners, breakfasts, field day. VE Team, hf operating activities, etc. In other words I thoroughly enjoy participating in all of the Two Rivers Arc activities. I especially like the camaradie of the club members, many who I have know for over 30 years.

I also like to build and maintain personal computers for a few people that I know. I like to keep up with the computer technology as best that I can.

I also like to experiment with all sorts of camera technology. I especially like the newer digital cameras. Although I can't say the same for the various software packages that are provided with the cameras. I like to see camera editing software to be nice and simple.

I like to play with new rigs of all sorts. At the moment I am using an Icom IC756 Pro 3, which I really like. My hf antennas consist of a  Cushcraft Ma5b beam and a Butternut Hf6v ground mounted vertical. I also use several 2m/70cm verticals for local communication.

Thanks for stopping by and viewing my Qrz Information.
