Click for more detail... I became interested in Amateur Radio while I was volunteering as the Disaster Director of the White County Chapter of the American Red Cross in North Central Arkansas. I had several volunteers who were Amateur Radio operators. One day Doyle Carter, kk5aw, dropped off a copy of "NOW YOUR TALKING" a self study guide to amateur radio and after studying less than two weeks I took my test and passed. So I became kc5wxc on 11/15/96 with a Technician License. I now hold a General Class Amateur Radio License. Moved back to Fort Smith Arkansas 11/14/08 just down the street from General Darbys house. In the Belle Grove Historic district. Interested in Skywarn,ARES,I check into several Net's The Arkansas Razorback Net 3987.5 and the Sunbelt net on 3990.0 . I have become interested in Amateur Radio High Altitude Balloons. I hope to at least send up a CW Beacon on a balloon flight here in Arkansas soon. I also run the Arkansas Skywarn list serve on yahoo groups . Arkansas is served by National Weather Service office's in 5 states so this list is a way to get the info out to those on the boundries and others that may not be aware of approaching severe weather. more to come Last modified: Thu Dec 11 19:02:08 2008 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
