The Mercer County Amateur Radio Group was founded on May 15, 2003. Our main objective is, "To increase emergency preparedness and awareness in our communities." We are here to serve the emergency communication needs of Mercer County, Illinois, and any surrounding counties needing assistance in events such as: severe weather, natural disasters, terrorism, or other emergencies. We also assist Amateur Radio Operators in our area, and those wishing to become hams. We meet the first Sunday of every month, at the Viola Village Hall. Everyone is welcome. Currently, all emergency communications will be conducted on the 146.40 simplex.
