Born 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA – moved to present location in 1977.
I was introduced to radio at the age of thirteen by my first ELMER. He gave me a Hallicrafters Sky Champion S-22R to use. Sitting in the dark with the warm glow emanating from the dials, I would venture to foreign lands listening to different languages and music. I was fascinated by the amateur operators heard talking to each other across the country and across the world. I knew that someday I would do the same.
I like to build electronic kits, especially radios. I started back in 1964 with a 5 tube, point to point wiring, AM radio. I’ve been through various Heathkit radios, transceivers, test equipment, and other kits.
I found out that Yaesu radios are just like eating peanuts…you can’t stop with just one! My shack consists of the FT-2000 HF/50 MHz Transceiver, Quadra System amplifier, FT-8900R Quad Band FM Transceiver, VX-8R 50/144/430 MHz HT, and a older Kenwood R-2000 receiver with the VC-10 118 to 174 MHz converter. Plus all the various shack paraphernalia.
I am a member of OMISS (#6566) and good in the OMISS Bureau. www.omiss.net I’m also a member of ARRL. www.arrl.org
