Click for more detail... Electronics has been good to me. It has been my vocation and avocation. Once I retired ....and hit geezerhood...I needed a hobby ,so I thought I'd give amature radio a try. PSK31/QRP is my favorite mode of operation. The challenge of operating with low power and narrow bandwidth really floats my boat (gets great miles/watt). Love to hear from any Alaska stations. Was born in Fairbanks... back before statehood. Grandparents were early pioneers. My grandfather carried the mail by dog team. Grandmother was a missionary nurse. Eventually, they opened a bar and hotel in Flat, AK. Then, retired to Fairbanks. For 2 M operation, I use a Yaesu FT-2800M attached to an SX-200 swr and power meter connected to a homebrew copper tubing J-pole ant. The whole station is powered by a couple of Astron power supplies and a rat's nest of wires. Some how it all works. When kayaking or bouncing around in my ever-faithful Jeep, I have a Yaesu VX-170 2 meter HT. It's been dropped in Puget Sound a couple of times. The accidental baptism seems to have had no effect on its operation. It's been a reliable rig. Well, it's nap time....thanks for taking the time to read my brief. 73 and happy trails to all!! de KE7EWI (Dave)
