Hello and welcome! First off, let me start by saying that I go by my middle name of Scott. My first name is Johnny and that is OK, but the preference is for Scott. Started out in ham radio when, at the urging of a good friend, KF5YP Steve, my Elmer KA5OUG tested me for my novice license in Tulsa, OK. I grew up in the Tulsa area and I have lived in Sapulpa, OK, Tulsa, OK, Aurora, CO for about a year and a half, then Wilmington, OH for about 12 years. Now I'm back in the great state of Oklahoma living in Ponca City. My previous callsigns have been KB5CBF, N5KYI, and now KG5VW. My wife is also a licensed ham, N5OUU, but not very active. I have my Advanced class license, and some of my others include; General Radiotelephone Operators license with ship radar endorsement, FAA A&P license, and an A+ Hardware certificaiton. Currently I am most active on 6 meter SSB and the W5IAS UHF link system in Northeast Oklahoma. I do frequent 3819.55 on weekend mornings, and sometimes on the Blackwell 145.310 repeater around 9 pm local time. I am also a member of the Kay County Amateur Radio Club here in Ponca City. I have a KG5VW Facebook page and am a member on Linked In. 73's Scott
My current station, a Kenwood TS-2000 and a couple of handhelds, along with my Yaesu FT-8900 quad band in my truck. Below is my current antenna for 6, 2, and 440, a Cushcraft 6270-13S fed with LMR-400 coax at 36 ft. Seems to work great when the band is open.
