Originally licensed in 1971 as WN0DLV in Fairfax Minnesota when I was in the 7th grade. Licensed again as WN0MHI in Buffalo Minnesota when I was a Senior in High School in 1974, then joined the US Air Force. Licensed again as KA6KGS in 1979 while stationed at Edwards AFB California. Spent 20+ years in the USAF, retired in 1994 to my present QTH.

While I was in the Air Force, operated from numerous overseas locations, as HL9RC, VK5AEZ, KA2EX/JA, and 7J1AIB. Also operated AF MARS as AFA2AO (Virginia), AFA8AO (South Korea), and AFA4US (San Antonio Texas). Upgraded to Advanced in 1985 at the Dayton Hamvention. Later upgraded to Extra and decided to keep my call.

Have worked numerous HF and VHF contests, and love to chase DX with my 100 watts into homebrew beam antennas. Ran a small antenna manufacturing company for a couple of years, now just building for friends and locals.  Worked as an ICC Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) in a Northeast Georgia Regional Hospital for 10 years, and have now gone into semi-retirement as of 1 April 2012.

Current Vice President of the Barrow Amateur Radio Club in Winder Georgia (WR4BC) (Co-Founder/Charter member), and the Athens Radio Club in Athens Georgia (KD4QHB). I am active on 160 meters through 440 Mhz on SSB, but really enjoy running some CW when I'm up to it.WHEW!!

PY2KW, Nelson Pala was a phys. ed. teacher at Avare' C.E.E.N.Cel. Joao Cruz High School. He eventually became the principal and was admired by parents and students. He taught me and other students the first steps of marching band, volleyball and in the art of Ham Radio.
