Unique Ham Radio QSO'S:

Marine Portable QSO- 10-21-2013:

While listening on 10 meters today I came across WS9P Cheryl who was on a Holland Cruise Ship off the coast of Aruba. This is the first time I have spoken with anyone on any type of boat let alone a cruise ship on ham radio. Cheryl was with a group of operators on her way to Aruba.

Cheryl was operating an Icom portable radio with a dipole and she had a strong 59+ signal to my condo here in central florida. We spoke for about 10 min. and it will be one QSO that I will not soon forget. Thank you Cheryl for the nice qso and I hope you and your group have a great trip.

Bicycle Mobile QSO-12-4-2013:

While working the 20 meter band today I came across WA4DXP (Marcellus aka M.D.) who was bicycle mobile in Huntsville,Alabama. M.D. and I had a nice QSO and I look forward to connecting with him again. Stop by his QRZ page and checkout his setup.

Bottom Of The Earth QSO-12-19-2013:

While turning the dial today on 10 meters 28.495 MHZ much to my surprise I came across Vladimir CE9/UA4WHX who was transmitting from the South Shetland Islands,Antarctica. He had a strong 59+20 signal and he received me at a 56. Needless to say this made my day to make a contact to the botttom of the earth on a bad DX day on 10 meters. :-)))))))

Vatcan City,Rome QSO-1-10-2014:

While listening on 17 meters today I heard Francesco HV0A calling CQ-DX from Vatican City,Rome. He was calling North America by the numbers and after waiting my turn after about 50 min. I was able to make my first contact to the Vatican City. Lots of big gun station with lots of wattage. I was using an end fed antenna with a 33' MFJ-1910 fiberglass telescopic mast from the balcony of my condo with just 100 watts :-))))))

San Lorenzo Island, Peru-2-22-2014:

Today I had a once in a life time chance to make a contact with a Dxpedition group on San Lorenzo Island, Peru Special Call Sign- OC0I. This island is controlled by the Peruvian Navy so not many contacts are made from it. I made the contact on 10 meters using and end fed antenna in my attic with 100 watts of power on a bad propagation day :-)))))

First QSO To Japan-3-18-2014:

Well tonight I hit the TRI FECTA OF HAM RADIO QSO. I spoke to Mr. Nagae from Shari Town Hokkaido, Japan (JA8EPO) on 10 meters. For me this was the highlight so far of my ham radio operation. Japan counts as an Island,Country and Continent. I made the contact @ 2350 UTC from my condo using and end fed antenna in the attic with and ICOM-718 with 100 watts of power as the grey line was passing over. God Is Good!!

Finished Working All Continents-3-29-2014:

I finally was able to work Australia today (VK4KW) on 10 meters to complete my work all continents. There was a big pile up but after 1 1/2 hours VICTORY:-))) The contact was made from my condo with the Icom-718 and End Fed Antenna in the attic using 100 watts. Distance from my home in Florida was 10,278.1 miles

Worked The Arecibo Observatory 4-4-2014:

Spoke with Andrew KE5GDB/KP4 who is a student from Texas who was working some DX while visiting the observatory in Puerto Rico, this is the largest radio telescope in the world. Contact was made from my condo working the ICOM-718 with and End Fed Antenna in the attic using 100 watts.

Finished Working 50 Islands Today 4-6-2014

Today I made a contact to Galapagos Island which allowed me to reach my goal of 50 Islands. I spoke with Vladimir HC8ART on 10 meters from my condo. I was operating a ICOM-718 on 100 watts with an End Fed Antenna in the attic on solar power. God is good all the time:-)

First QSO To A Lighthouse 4-21-2014:

Today I spoke with Jim KA3UNQ/P on 20 meters who was operating the USA-200 Lighthouse(Craighill Channel Upper Range Front Light) from Maryland. I made the contact from my condo using 100 watts on a ICOM-718 with a End Fed Antenna in the attic.

100 Countries Completed Today 4-26-2014

I made my 100TH contact to the Island Of Crete today and spoke with George SV9GPV on 10 meters while he had his antenna pointed towards South America and he was still able to hear my station in Florida. I was operating a ICOM-718 with 100 watts of power using an End Fed Antenna on the balcony of my condo on solar power. ?God is good all the time:-)

First Air Mobil QSO-5-22-2014

On a not so good day on 20 meters,I made my first air mobil QSO with pilot Dan (W5WRH/AM) aboard his 757 cargo jet flying 36,000 feet south of Cuba. I heard Dan calling CQ when he was over the Grand Cayman Islands and he had a pileup of operators calling him. I was able to get through the pileup from my station using an ICOM-718 running 100 watts with an end fed antenna in the attic of my condo on solar power.

We spoke for a few minutes and I recorded our QSO. You can hear it at the top of my page on the Ustream player. As it turns out pilot Dan lives about 12 miles from my location and knows some ham operators that I know also. It's all about being in the right place at the right time :-)

QSO With The National Hurricane Center In Miami, Florida-5-31-2014

Today I spoke with Lloyd who was operating station (WX4NHC) testing equipment at the national hurricane center, they do this every year the day before the start of the hurricane season. It was nice to make a contact with them and I look forward to receiving a QSL card from them.  Thank you for all you do for us and I pray that we have a quiet season in 2014.

Second Air Mobil QSO 9-22-2014

While scaning the 2 meter band today I came across Ray (KF4TNI) who was a passenger on a cessna 172 air mobil flying 9000' over Winter Haven, Florida enroute to Lady Lake, Florida. We talked on the 146.520 simplex then switched over to the 146.550 and had a great QSO while Ray was on his handheld radio and I was using 5 watts. That was my longest QRP QSO on 2 meter simplex. You just never know what you are going to hear on the radio, it's all about being in the right place at the right time. Thank you Ray for the QSO.

I hope to have a QSO with you soon.
