KK6ZM (formerly K6AAX) California Information

CQ Zone 3, ITU Zone 6, ARRL Section "San Diego," Age 41

KK6ZM CALIFORNIA QTH INFORMATION BELOW

Antenna:

RADIO LA JOLLA consists of a Tarheel (screwdriver) Antenna on the back porch 80m-6m. I call this antenna the LITTLE ANTENNA THAT COULD. Believe me, it wants to be big so, for self esteem reasons, we let it play with the big boyz. :-) The coils are tuned remotely from the shack with the Ameritron SDC-102 controller. ACHTUNG: Please get permission from the owner before attempting to load this antenna up on 160m, hi hi!

Shack:

Elecraft K3 and P3, Ameritron ALS 600, AT5K Palstar Antenna Tuner, Heil Proset Mic and Headset.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! 40m and 75M SSB DX are my favorite activities. I definitely consider myself a low band fan. I also participate in contests.

Work you on the bands!!!!!

More interesting links

If you are a low band fan, you might enjoy hearing the European pile-up below on 75m. YES, I SAID 75M!!!

The below link is an accurate representation of our 75M SSB signal into Europe around 0800 UTC from K6AAX/VY2

(PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA - IOTA NA-029). This was done from the VY2ZM Contest Station right on the

Atlantic Ocean. Thanks for all the contacts!

Recorded at VY2ZM during the 2011 160m ARRL CW Contest, it is my CW contact with VY2ZM on 160m

from the K6AAX California QTH. :-) TOP BAND!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFGWshvZ0BM&feature=youtu.be

The "you tube" link below was recorded at A61BK in United Arab Emirates (Thank you, Khalid!). I was at VY2ZM's SUPERSTATION QTH on Prince Edward Island (Canada-link provided) operating 40m SSB and calling CQ DX as K6AAX / VY2 just before the March 2011 ARRL SSB DX CONTEST with 10 Elements pointed at Europe (two 3 element stacked Yagis (highest one at 170ft) and two 2 element stacked Yagis on another tower at 120ft). The pile-up was deafening. I DEFINITELY WAS MAKING SOME NOISE!!!!!!

75m SSB QRP DX Mobile Contact with England from Prince Edward Island (Canada) as it happened (M3SGS/M and K6AAX/VY2)

At the time of this contact, I was using a Six FULL SIZE Vertical Array right off the Atlantic Ocean and pointed at Europe from VY2ZM ("THE DEATH RAY")
