The above picture was taken at 25,000 feet over central Washington state. Lenticular clouds are normally formed above mountain peaks and elevated points of land. Caused by changing wind patterns, temperature variations, and moisture content, they are normally seen as a single cloud or in pairs. Multiple layers are somewhat rarer.

Retired USAF. Vietnam Vet. Flew C-130E, AC-130A, RC-130A, T-37, T-38 aircraft. Major airline retired pilot. Flew Boeing B-737 and Airbus A-319 / A-320 aircraft.

County Hunter MRC's:

For county hunters, I no longer sign and return your Mobile Reply Cards, unless I have one of your personal QSLs (only one, not one each time you send a MRC). If you do not have an actual QSL card, a MRC from you to me is sufficient. As a mobile, I also collect counties. Thanks for helping me in this area.

Also, for the county hunters. There is no need for you spending the funds to send me a last county "car" or last county certificate (LC-1). The racetrack field has been finalized with max entrants (no more room at the starting gate)! A simple "thanks" email is appreciated. Better yet, we can always swap lies someday over liquid refreshment - hot/cold - clear/black/tinted - your choice. Good Hunting.
