Licensed since 1995, avid QRP operator. I enjoy CW, phone and digital modes with an interested in portable ops, emergency communication, antenna building,IOTA and lighthouse activations. I believe this hobby is only as active as we make it. Radiowave propagation and antenna theory have always spaked my interest from an early age.

I am originally from Willimantic, CT. I met my wife Beckie (KB1IRZ) in college while earning my B.A. in History at the University of Connecticut Storrs campus. I am currently an Emergency Communication Specialist for the Maine Department of Public Safety in Gray. I was also a dispatcher for Lewiston-Auburn (Maine) 9-1-1 and started my dispatching career as a fire dispatcher for the University of Connecticut (UCONN) Fire Department. Whether at work or not, I enjoy being at the radio.Communication is an essential part of life and this wonderful, diverse hobby.

My other favorite pasttimes with the hobby include contesting, APRS, emergency communication, fox hunting (radio direction finding) , Echolnk & D-Star. I am hoping that my son Stanley will eventually take his test so that I can pass on my orignal call sign to him (N1URA). I enjoy operating on bands and modes that may not see as much activity (1.2 GHz and 222 MHz FM repeaters).
