I cannot send QSL cards for the other Colony Stations, Just for K2A in NY. You can have the certificate, or the QSL card for K2A, or both if you want. *Other Colony stations WILL offer a special QSL card also. Inquire to their- home call on QRZ.com. Website at: http://www.13colonies.info (Go here to download log sheet) On July 1st to July 6th, 2010 (5 Days) all thirteen 1776 original colonies will be on the air AGAIN!. GUARANTEED at least two S.E. stations per colony state. Also included- Super contest stations, multi-operator Club stations & OM & XYL teams. A magnificant NEW full color certificate printed on heavy card stock with a map and the state flags of all the 1776 colony states adorn this award- (NICE!-CLICK ON PHOTO ABOVE).You can work one state or all 13 and be eligible for the certificate. Each colony state worked will be marked by the Purple Heart Medal . Also a special "Contact" logo will be affixed if you worked one or all 13 stations. A "Clean Sweep" indicator will also be affixed for those lucky enough to "Q" all 13. Special event call signs will be used (K2A Thru K2M). All modes of operation should be represented-SSB, CW, RTTY,SATELLITE, Et.-The mode of operation is up to the individual colony state station. Each OP is to send a contact log stating the Date, UTC, Band, & call sign of each contact, and a BLANK QSL CARD +$4.00 US. (to help defray printing costs). PLEASE NO STAMPS.. NO SASE required. We will furnish postage, certificate and 9"x12" envelope via 1st class mail. The certificate will NOT be folded. K2A (NY-KU2US) will issue a special event QSL card for a QSO with K2A for those Ops that request one in lieu of the certificate. SASE Please for QSL card only. All award requests and payment to be sent and made out to the award manager-KU2US (Address on QRZ.com). All bands will be in play except the WARC bands and 60 meters. The Colony stations will be operating on or near the"13" of each band (Eg.14.213, 14.013,14.313, 7.213, 7.013, et.). 2 meters and 6 meter simplex are encouraged. The SE stations are on the east coast and are very close to each other. It will be harder for these states to contact each other, also 40m-160m is encouraged because of this. The SE will begin July 1st at 1300 and end July 6th at 0400 UTC. You may print out a log form for your use from our website. This SE will be annual each year, with a different spectacular multi-color certificate for variety-be sure to collect all issues. Mike Mardit (WA2VQW / K2A-2nd NY STATION) Will attempt to operate mobile from different Revolutionary War Period Historical sites down in South Eastern New York State, to add a little flavor to the Special Event. He will describe his location and historical connection to the Revolutionary Period. Other Colony operators will also volunteer some historical tid-bits about their States also, keeping with the spirit of the Event. 2.) New for 2010, most Colony states will have two operators running the special event stations on a rotating/alternating basis to insure continued presence for the five day event. We want everyone to have a "Q". All call signs for the Colony Stations will be Listed Below and up-dated on a daily basis. If you hear any station On HF that does not match the call signs below-THEY ARE PIRATES. PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE VALIDITY OF A COLONY STATION, EMAIL ME ASAP! A few stations did operate as pirate stations, asking that you send your certificate request and $4 to them. They will not count as a Colony contact. It's a shame some folks will stoop that low, but it happens. 3.) 5 days this year! The 4th of July, 2010 lands on a Sunday, which means that Monday, the 5th is a national holiday. Due to popular demand, we will run the event all 5 days instead of 4 like in 2009. 4.) A New certificate. The theme for 2010 is George Washington. This great certificate features a stately, uniformed Washington, as well as the map of the 13 colonies as they were in 1770-1788.. Also the QSO indicator by each state flag you contact, is the renouned "Purple Heart" medal with the likeness of Washington, given for being wounded in combat to our armed forces. EXCELLENT certificate every ham should have in their shack. Each year a completely new design with new a patriotic theme! 5.) ATTENTION all short wave listeners (SWL). You will also qualify for the certificate. Follow the instructions above when you submit your log. A special SWL logo will be affixed to the certificate for you. One or all 13 stations logged qualifies you. Consider becoming a HAM too! :) Look at all the fun we are having! 6.) Please have patience! We made over 12,000 "Q"s in 2009 with limited exposure. In 2010 we expect that "Q" figure to increase dramatically, especially if Propagation & weather is better, and static/QRN levels are lower. Pile-Ups will be a ZOO! but we will be prepared :). We have learned alot in 2009, and we will employ some different tactics to hear everybody. But please remember that our main goal is not to make a contest out of this. This is a special event to honor our Independence, but bagging all 13 will be nice-Right? :) Every attempt will be made to up-grade our performance to excellence and to provide a memorable, attractive certificate, worthy of a place on your radio shack wall. Only high quality multi-colored printing and heavy weight card stock will be used-no flimsy copy paper. We want everything for this special event to be "First Class" nothing spared. We want to give YOU, an enjoyable and fun event to work. The fun factor is equally enjoyable on "both" sides of the pile-up. Please be patient with us, because being in a pile-up with several hundred stations calling at the same time, even by the numbers, is quite challenging. One of our main goals is to see that everyone Q's all "13", and we will do our best to make this happen. All consideration will be given to everyone-QRO,QRP,MOBILE, PORTABLE & DX Stations. Get ready, because July is not to far off.
