I operate up a slope at 400' under the oaks in the hills of Sonoma County, NE Santa Rosa, CA, on an FT-1000D with a Traffie 5-band Hex Beam, a G5RV, and eventualy a 160 windom and multi-band to 160 vertical. Current projects including getting W6BNB/sk Bob Shrader's Hallicrafters back on the air and the perpetual evolution of my mobile station TS-480HX with various antenna experiments.
Day of the YL's HF Contest, May 18-19, 2013, terrible band conditions, but pointed the beam east (thank you W6XU for lending me your shack) got to know the notch filter, and enjoyed 12 hours of 326 qso's.
"Day of the YL's" HF Contest, May 24th and 25th, 2014!
I QSL via snail mail (postage please), QRZ, LOTW, and Clublog.org I am a member of ARRL, DX Code of Conduct, Redwood Empire DX Association, Northern California Contest Club, Northern California DX Association, Sonoma County Radio Amateurs, Palos Verdes Amateur Radio Club, Radio Club of Great Britain, and British Young Ladies Amateur Radio Association.
My dad was the original KU6F, licensed in 1937 as W6PBO in Sacramento/Galt, CA. These are a few "remenant" qso's of his which came in to my qrz page after I was granted his call. I saved my dad's paper logs and was able to confirm these QSO's with "Kama" posthumously. OK, not legal by LoTW, but totally cool!
My father circa 1936 when at school in Sacramento.
