Hopped on QRZ to check out a callsign, and then looked at my bio info. it's been quite a while and time for an update!

Started in radio in June of 2007 when I got my Tech ticket. Upgraded to General in December of 2007, and then on to Extra in January 2008. I managed to convince Gail, the XYL, to get licensed in April of 2008. now officially known as KB3RDB

My current shack (like most) is a work in progress. MY HF rig is a Kenwood TS-480. For VHF/UHF I have Kenwood TM-D710A. I al so have an Icom ID-880 for D-star. I haveYaesu FT-8800s in our vehicles, and carry a FT-60 HT for portable use. An Icom 91AD HT is also available for portable DStar.

Recently, I added some nice new-to-me rigs; an FT-450 and Elecraft K2, whcih I acquired from Lemar, N3AT. Lemar built the K2, and it is a prized addition to the shack, just because it is something he built!

Antennas are a work in progress, as that I have no trees or anything of elevation to elevate wires. A set of 3 towers in our yard will allow me to put up some better antennas. I have two Arrow OSJ 146/440 antennas and use some various wires for HF work. I also have a 20M dipole in the attic. I had some protable towers setup and have built a nice Off-center fed long wire that I have used on field day, that will hopefully be in the air more permanently.

I am very interested in digital modes, particularly PSK, APRS, and D-Star. I enjoy software control and have been using Ham Radio Deluxe for PSK contacts with my TS-480. I am evaluating some other software right now, as that I recently found a TenTec RX-320D reciever and have seen some new options for software.

I am active in the W3OI radio club, and am a member of the Lehigh County RACES. I have been the Lehigh and Northampton County Skywarn coordinator since 2008.

Beyond radio, I am very interested in weather, renewable energy, sustainable living, organic gardening. My wife and I purchased a 15 acre plot of southern Colorado ranch land in April of 2007, where we would like to retire (which is a long way off!)
