I have been licenced since 2005, progressing from M3LUA to M0EAV in about 5 months.

Not active from home QTH anymore as my baby daughter ensures I have plenty of other things to do!!  When in the car I use an Icom 2820 Dual Band (VHF/UHF) D-Star enabled radio.

My main interest is operating portable and I use a Yaesu FT-817 with an SGC-211 portable autotuner into an 88ft dipole for HF and I have also just built a 7 element portable beam to use on 2m.  I am in the process of building my own portable rotatable dipole similar in design to the buddipole which I should be able use without the tuner.  I have started to take part in the RSGB 144Mhz Backpackers contest which is really good fun.  I am also continuing to learn Morse Code to make the best use of the 817's 5 watt output.

I am a member of the Cambridgeshire Repeater Group (CRG) and part of the Camb Hams, the social side of the CRG, who meet every month to organise expeditions and contest entries.  You can find out more information about the CRG at www.cambridgerepeaters.net and the Camb Hams at www.camb-hams.com.

Thanks for looking me up on QRZ and if we have spoken, many thanks for the contact, if not, I look forward to talking to you in the future.

73 for now.

John
