NEWS - As well as celebrating 25 years in Amateur Radio, 2014 is also the Year of Homecoming in Scotland and I will sometimes be active as MA0NDX.

Born in March 1976, Col had an early interest in amateur radio (1989) through his father, GM1RIG. As the years passed, being a keen SWL, he obtained MM0NDX in December 2003.

Not one to chase awards, Col is more interested in gathering DX news - as such he started a small blog called hamspirit.wordpress.com in April 2007. This was his first experience in blogging DX snippets and it soon became a smash hit.

In early 2009, dx-hamspirit.com was born. It went from strength to strength, often breaking DX news or providing exclusive videos/images of expeditions.

In January 2010, DX World.net was created. As owner/publisher, Col thanks its global readership for continued support. Through an advertising campaign, DX World is sometimes able to donate/sponsor upcoming DXpeditions, particularly IOTA. DXWorldShop.net is also available to further help DXpeditions.

A very keen IOTA chaser and activator, Col has visited and operated, so far, from the following islands: EU-008 (Mull, Kerrera), EU-010 (Benbecula, Lewis, Harris, N.Uist, Berneray, S.Uist, Grimsay, Baleshare), EU-059 (St Kilda Archipelago), EU-109 Longstone Isl (Farne Isles), EU-111 (Monach Isles), EU-118 (Flannan Isles), EU-123 (Arran, Inchmickery), NA-010 (Cape Breton Isl), NA-094 (St Paul Island), NA-071 (Boca Brava), NA-072 (Naos), NA-088 (Colon), NA-170 (San Blas Archipelago), NA-202 (Isla Grande), NA-203 (Iguana Isl).

He is a member of Invoker Team specialising in rare IOTA activations, and the IOTA columnist for the RSGB RadCom magazine.

Previous DXpeditions include 6W/MM0NDX, HP0INT, CY9M, MS0INT & MX0INT.

Also operated as HP1/MM0NDX (Panama City) VE3/MM0NDX (Toronto) and F/MM0NDX (Central France).

As well as keeping DX World website updated daily, Col has been Pilot station for a few high profile DXpeditions & stations, namely: 3Y0E (Bouvet Isl), ZS8T (Marion), YI9PSE (Kurdistan, Iraq), 4W6A (East Timor), JX5O (Jan Mayen), K4M (Midway Isl), XR0Y (Easter Isl), ST0R (Rep. South Sudan), NH8S (Swains), HK0NA (Malpelo), ZL9HR (Campbell Isl), TX5K (Clipperton), K9W (Wake Isl), FT5ZM (Amsterdam Isl), VK9MT (Mellish Reef) and FT4TA (Tromelin). Also blogged for T2GM and HR-IOTA 2013.

On three separate occasions he has been an integral part of expeditions awarded DXpedition of the Year - HK0NA, NH8S and K9W.

Current or past member of Northern California DX Foundation, INDEXA, Island Radio Expedition Foundation, GMDX Group, German DX Foundation, Clipperton DX Club, Russian Robinson Club, MDXC, RSGB and Chiltern DX Club.

In 2012, he received the GMDX Group DX Award of Excellence and was made Honorary Life Member of DXARC Club.
