Welcome to MX0WRC. This is the Club Station of the Workington And District Amateur Radio and IT Group. The group is based at the Helena Thompson Museum in the town of Workington in West Cumbria.

The group was formed in October 2002 for the purposes of promoting the hobby of amateur radio and associated information technology within the local community. (please follow the link above for more details)

The building in which the museum is housed was donated to the town of Workington by Miss Helena Thompson a local philanthropist, in 1940. The Museum was originally known as Park End.

Helena Thompson, M.B.E. J.P. lived in the house for over seventy years and gave it, as a gift, to the people of Workington upon her death on the condition it was made into a Museum for Workington & surrounding district. Miss Thompson's family had been associated with the house since the late 18th century. Park End was originally built as the residence of the steward or land agent, of the Curwen Family who's estates were centered on the near by Workington Hall. Helena Thompson's grand farther Benjamin Thompson was a solicitor in the town and acted as the Curwen's' agent and lived in Park End.
