I am recently a new ham but have played around with listening to ham radio since I was 12 years old. My 14 year old son, KD0KXS is also a new ham and recently aquired his General ticket. For a radio I am using a Flex 5000 with the VU5K module for 144 and 432 Mhz and a FT-857D for mobile. For antennas I have a M2 2m12 for 2 meters, a 2 element Cubex quad for 6-20 meters (4 elements on 6 meters) on a US Towers MA-40 tower, inverted vee for 40 meters, inverted L for 160/80 meters and a g5rv jr for backup. For amps I have a 2 meter KLM 160 watt and a 2 meter TE Systems 14612G 600 watt. I enjoy making contacts in the states as well as working DX. Currently learning cw and am a member of NAQCC #4919 and SKCC #7867. I have many interests which include most digital modes, but weak signal VHF is my favorite on 2 and 6 meters. I dabble some in 2 meter EME but need a better setup. I am in the agriculture business. Farm 1100 acres of corn and soybeans mostly by myself.

Have you thanked a farmer today?
