I was first licensed in 1991 as N1JHY. Upgraded to Extra Class in 1993.

My background includes education in physics and electrical engineering. After school, I spent 9 years in industry (military and oceanography) in the Boston, Massachusetts area. However, by the time I was 30, a very close friend contracted cancer and died; this event had a profound effect upon me, and I left my engineering career to start anew in northern New Hampshire, in 1971. I have lived in Sugar Hill and Lisbon, and now live in Bethlehem, Grafton County, New Hampshire, about an hour south of the Canadian border.

Besides amateur radio, I am very interested in politics, current events, and business, especially small business. After being involved with real estate and development, I now work as a consultant to clients in the areas of tax-deferred real estate exchanges and in solving other types of real estate related problems. Financing and entity issues fascinate me, and I have assisted clients in forming and utilizing trusts and corporations.

My wife and I enjoy travel, and we have visited England and Italy. Quebec Province, Canada is quite close by car; we have visited Quebec City many times, and, more recently, Montreal.

My favorate modes are SSB phone, RTTY and Packet, now supplanted by PSK31. My equipment includes a FT-990 transceiver, an Alpha 91B linear, and a Sommer XP-808 antenna mounted on a tower. I also operate on ECHOLINK and on CQ100.   My XYL is very tolerant of antennas and wires, thankfully.

The QTH is located at 1550 feet (500 meters +/-). An alternate QTH is in O'Neill (Fernandina Beach), Nassau County, Florida, where I operate as N1PP/4.

I QSL with hams who want a card, and, in many cases, initiate the process.
