Any kind of HF "Low-Profile" (Stealth) Antennas, especially MAGLOOPS!
Here is a photo of the first 20 meter MONOBAND Magloop that I built, around 1993...
I still operate from the location shown in the picture. It is a two-story brick building, with a wood roof, and no insulation. Any antennas (even TV antennas) are strictly forbidden, so my attic looks like the roof at the Russian embassy. The advantage is that the antennas are protected from the elements, and that service is done with the antenna in it's final position. Disadvantages are that you are limited to 20' in height above ground, as well as length/width. There is no room for a straight 15 meter dipole! Obviously, I do my contesting elsewhere! If I am loud, chances are I am at K1TTT. This QTH is in Queens County, NY. I activate New York County, and Bronx County (NY) from N2KW/M, but not in NYQP, because I participate in the WAG contest every year. July or August is best. I also operate a remote-base as DL/N2KW from a location near Munich.
My other hobby is Fishing, and I am as involved in Fishing as I am in Radio! They are very much alike! ( I "search and pounce" when fishing, and "troll" the bands!) I fish both from my kayak, and from shore. (Mostly salt, but sometimes fresh .....as long as the lake isn't frozen! I have never tried ice-fishing.) I release my catch unless the fish is injured. Favorite target? STRIPED BASS!
My daughter (1984) can bait her own hook, and knows morse code. She got married in August, 2009.
My son (1986) has finished his tour with the US Army.. He has served in Iraq and Kuwait, and is the proud father of Layla and Ryan.
Here are Rachel and Matthew, in a picture taken in October, 2012.
My wife went to heaven in 1997.The day hasn't gone by since that I don't miss her. She taught me so much about what love means during our 15 years together. I am lucky that she touched my life, and forever grateful for the time that we had. I know that she is our Guardian Angel, and I hope she likes what she sees!
Between January, and August of 2010,I reduced my weight from 127 kg (280 lbs.) to to 80 kg (176 lbs.)
This is what I looked like BEFORE losing weight .....
This picture was taken about halfway to my present weight ...
UPDATE: As of January 2013, I weigh 154 lbs (71 kg) and I feel GREAT!
Here is the most recent photo:
I look and feel 10 years younger! If you want to lose weight, it really is all about calories. Eat protein, avoid sugar. It really is THAT simple. Excess baggage puts a strain on so many vital life-support functions of your body. I predict that obesity will be THE epidemic of the twentyfirst century, and that co-morbidities will shorten many lifespans. I want you to live a long time, so please look up "BMI" and "Metabolic Syndrome" and understand what they are trying to tell you.
After more than 50 years in our hobby, the postal aspects have lost their lustre. I cannot respond to bureau cards any longer.
If you feel that you REALLY need a plain card from a W2, I will ALWAYS respond to a direct request that includes return postage.
Before you send your request, ask yourself if you really need another W2 QSL card.
Please do not send QSL requests for contacts with DL/N2KW, as this is a remote-controlled station that you may think of as a repeater.
DL/N2KW operations are from JN58 - West of Munich - 500w + 2 el. (except 160) - There are no paper QSL's planned.
