N3DG Biography:

Dennis John Gazak N3DG was born in Northeast Philadelphia and became a Shortwave Listener at 8 years old in 1968, self-taught and later passed his Novice License in 1971 as WN3SZD at 11 years old using a homemade Ameco AC-1 transmitter and National NC-109 receiver, later upgrading to a Heath AT-1, DX-60B, HW-101 and then Classic Kenwood Gear (TS-520S, TS-820S, TS-830S, TS-930S, TS-940S). Dennis was active in US Navy MARS and handled traffic and phone-patches during the Vietnam War at K3UIB from the US Navy Base in Northeast Philadelphia, and later became president of the radio club there as well as an active member of PennARC (operating as WA3RCA and WM3PEN during the 1976 US Bicentennial Celebration in Philadelphia) and operating at K2BSA during many Boy Scout Jamborees On The Air.

Dennis became N3DG passing Extra Class at 17 years old in the Summer of 1978 using mostly Kenwood equipment, later passing the FCC First Class Radio Telephone and Third Class Radio Telegraph Licenses at 18 years old and began working in Broadcast Radio at KYW (1060 KHz, Philadelphia’s #1 Radio Station at 50 KW Clear Channel) and at WTEL (860 KHz at 10 KW) as Assistant Chief Engineer and Announcer, and also where he was the first broadcaster in Philadelphia to announce the release on the American hostages in Iran on January 20, 1981 from a source he monitored on Shortwave radio.

As a Rhodes and Fulbright Scholarship nominee and after graduating from La Salle University Magna Cum Laude as the top student in Computer Science in 1982 (later attending George Washington University), he became a Software Engineer at RCA (now Lockheed-Martin) supporting the US Navy Aegis Program and developed patents for what became EZ-Pass and Lojack, and later joined Tektronix to begin a career in High Technology Sales & Marketing of Computer Graphic CAD/CAM Solutions and Unix Workstations, becoming the top sales professional at Tektronix in 1987 presented by Tektronix President (as pictured).

Dennis Gazak launched Bluestone Software in 1990 from initial startup selling Software Development Tools and Consulting, and led Bluestone to profitability and its highest revenues while growing the company toward an acquisition by Hewlett Packard in 2000 for $500 Million.

Today, Dennis is a Business Development Manager selling IT Support, Security, Software/Database Development, Web Design Services and Consulting, is President of the Pennsylvania Amateur Radio Club (PennARC) WA3RCA, on the board of eQSL leading InternationalMarketing and Promotion for the Original, Largest and #1 Electronic QSL Service, a member of the Ham Radio Deluxe Beta Test Team, and is very active as a DXer from N3DG near Philadelphia in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and N3DG/2 near Atlantic City, Seven Mile Beach, Cape May County, New Jersey, IOTA NA-111.

PY2KW, Nelson Pala was a phys. ed. teacher at Avare' C.E.E.N.Cel. Joao Cruz High School. He eventually became the principal and was admired by parents and students. He taught me and other students the first steps of marching band, volleyball and in the art of Ham Radio.
