The term "elmer" means to help, teach, aid or assist a fellow amateur radio operator. The Amateur Radio Service is better served when we take time to share knowledge and experiences we gain through our troubles and trials in this ham hobby. We will always continue to strive to help those who ask. Our main goal is to offer any helping hand to our fellow Hams!! We offer several downloadable shack helps via our web site below! More to come as time and ideas will allow. Stay tuned?? The nickname "Ham Nut" is from an msn.com group we founded some years ago: "Ham Nut's World" When we were first licensed as KG4HKY we soon discovered very little local elmering being done. Guess the hobby just wasn't as interesting then locally as we thought it to be? Thank goodness for HF Radio & our use of the internet! Our days of 'camping out' on local VHF/UHF repeaters are over!! We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE any new ham to get their GENERAL ticket. You'll soon see WHY!! There's a whole world out there waiting for YOU!!! Don't let any of the 'Old Timers' discourage you. Thier fault they've lost the JOY!!
Left the 60 & 160 Meter measurements out as we seldom use these bands. Currently studying as time allows for Extra Class here (But not real hard!)
Through this group we introduced a lot of 'non-hams' to this exciting hobby!! Met a lot of people and shared a lot of radio/computer/internet related info. The Ham Nut animation shown above was created by 'RANGER'. A fellow member of this group and a fellow Vietnam Era Veteran. Other variations were created by me via 'Animation Shop' software.
Sure do miss "Ham Nut's World"! MSN did away with these web sites but I keep the name alive via various means! Click on the revolving globe to enter our NEW world on the internet
If we can help you in any way with Amateur Radio just ask!! Currently a Member of 'SPAR'
Need some radio or tower help? Have own tools!! Just ask! We try to honor all requests!!
Elmer to all hams!

In God's Hands? Sometimes I need "proper guidance" in amateur radio use. Never too old to learn, huh!! Especially on the HF Digital modes! Just ask my dear friend Martin (W3MLK). Hi Hi Have joined the 30 Meter Digital Group just recently via Martin's invitation. 30 Meter Digital Group: Member #4456 30MDG Feld Hell #4024 EPC #16191 N4EMP DMC number is 06039 Some of my greatest elmers are now "Silent Keys". KW4P, W4DX, K4KR, WB5DRE, W4FX May God Bless their memories ††† Current holders of these calls have big shoes to fill!!
There are a few 'ham radio' web sites that I am proud of due to the fact that I am their manager and creator. I spend a lot of time on the internet trying to encourage potential "hams" into obtaining their "ticket" (license). A lot of my time can be found being spent on Twitter and Facebook. Will have to 'Allow' you to Follow me on Twitter to avoid spammers and will have to 'Friend' you on Facebook for same reason. You will need an account in both places to participate. Sorry!! That's the internet!! We especially enjoy it when we work folks we follow on Twitter or have Friended on Facebook!! Thanks folks!! YouTube Video of QSO with then KD8NJZ here XXXXCraig is now NM8W (Extra Class).
Will have to Search my FULL name on Facebook. Special thanks to all of you who have followed up on our information over the years and have since obtained their own 'ticket.' Follow that up now by getting ur General!! QSL?? To date we have assisted a number of area hams in antenna and tower installations. Also, have helped folks to find a vanity call sign that had their initials or had lettering that pertained to a specific interest. That was a real nice gesture. I thought!! Hi Hi Don't do that very often now these days. Will see what calls are available upon request though! The "XYL", Carol is licensed as N4VBS Our son, Timothy, is now licensed as K4TEP N4EMP EchoLink Node: 46465 We monitor all area 2 Meter repeaters during the day and early evening hours. Brief YouTube video from Field Day 2012. Striving to do better each year!! Come join us?? Otherwise we are quite busy elsewhere these days without any local club/group involvement. Just look at all of our towers!! More in the works here as time and monies allow. Always looking for bigger & better!! HF has proven to be much more enjoyable as you don't have to pretend to like someone when in QSO (CONVERSATION) and it's easier to talk to those whom don't readily know you or what's been your history/past. Just a simple 'ragchew' for the contact means a lot these days! Lots of QSL cards collected here show how much we miss all of the local repeater crapola! Hi Hi Avid follower and loyal veiwer of this group: AmateurLogicAm featured at 17:37 minute mark in this particular video. Follow up video in which our Icom 746 Pro repair issue is mentioned is AmateurLogicat 50:48 mark. Thanks Tommy for the mentioning and replies via Twitter and Facebook messages! George, Tommy, Jimmy and Peter are a great group of fellow hams! See: AmateurLogic All of them are on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ in some form or another. Come join us!! Just recently worked one of this shows regular guests Emile "Cheap Old Man" KE5QKR And we are all still certified Storm Spotters for the National Weather Service with several classes attended by each of us including a webinar for Advanced Class Spotters. SMS messages used a lot here! That's us with the SKYWARN "EYE" (Tornado) on APRSSearch: N4EMP-1 when a digipeater allows us to be seen. Have our own in the works here at this QTH. Stay Tuned?? Follow Walker Skywarn on Twitter for WX reports: Walker_Skywarn Look for the hashtag of #alwx in severe weather Facebookposts or Twitter tweets.
