The term "elmer" means to help, teach, aid or assist a fellow amateur radio operator.

The Amateur Radio Service is better served when we take time to share knowledge

and experiences we gain through our troubles and trials in this ham hobby.

We will always continue to strive to help those who ask.

Our main goal is to offer any helping hand to our fellow Hams!!

We offer several downloadable shack helps via our web site below!

More to come as time and ideas will allow. Stay tuned??

The nickname "Ham Nut" is from an msn.com group we founded some years ago: "Ham Nut's World"

When we were first licensed as KG4HKY we soon discovered very little local elmering being done.

Guess the hobby just wasn't as interesting then locally as we thought it to be?

Several years later now and it still seems this way to some extent. Real sad situation.

Thank goodness for HF Radio & our use of the internet!

Our days of 'camping out' on local VHF/UHF repeaters are over!!

Folks need to know this hobby extends much further than on just 2 meters and local repeaters.

We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE any new ham to upgrade and get their GENERAL ticket.

You'll soon see WHY!! There's a whole world out there waiting for YOU!!!

Don't let any of the 'Old Timers' discourage you. Thier fault they've lost the joy of this hobby!!

Through this group we introduced a lot of 'non-hams' to this exciting hobby!!

Met a lot of people and shared a lot of radio/computer/internet related info.

The Ham Nut animation shown above was created by 'RANGER'.

A fellow member of this group and a fellow Vietnam Era Veteran.

Other variations were created by me via 'Animation Shop' software.

Sure do miss "Ham Nut's World" a !

MSN did away with these web sites but I keep the name alive via various means!

Click on the revolving globe to enter our NEW world on the internet

If we can help you in any way with Amateur Radio just ask!!

You are cordially invited to visit our shack at any time to see what it's all about.

But be ready to hear from someone who's truly NUTS over it!!

Currently a Member of 'SPAR' ......

Need some radio or tower help? Have own tools!! Just ask! We try to honor all requests!!

We can be easily contacted!!

Elmer to all hams!

Ham Operator's Lament

Dear Lord, please help me to learn never to say;

“10-4 Good Buddy!” over the repeater today.

Lord, you know I just wanna say things just right!

Because I know there's some just wanting a fight.

They've got nothing much better to do each day

than to just lie there waiting for a chance to say;

“Hey, now just who do you think you are?”

“You know this here repeater reaches out really far!”

Why don't you just get what ya gotta say over & done?

“This here frequency is to be used by everyone!!”

“No, I ain't got no time to give you a radio check!”

“Now, move on buddy before I break your neck!!”

Lord, help me to remember why I even bothered to study.

The Amateur Radio Service Rules, to some, seem so cruddy!

I can't for the life of me figure out as to the reason

why folks such as these are always so displeasing.

And, Lord, please help me to never forget to ID!

Especially when I'm on an open repeater frequency!

I just know somebody's timing me by their little clock.

Just so's they can deliver an ON AIR shock!!

To quote verbatim the rules from the government's FCC.

Hoping to embarrass the miscreants in all their glee.

Lord, help to know when it's the right time to Sign!

Else they'll accuse me of thinking the frequency is mine.

And help me not to never ever possibly forget...

The Amateur Radio Service is more than answering a net!

That it's a hobby to be shared by every ham licensee.

And that we should always elmer new hams joyfully!

In God's Hands?

Sometimes I need "proper guidance" in amateur radio use. Never too old to learn, huh!!

Especially on the HF Digital modes! Just ask my dear friend Martin (W3MLK). Hi Hi

Have joined the 30 Meter Digital Group just recently via Martin's invitation.

30 Meter Digital Group: Member #4456 30MDG

DMC number is 06039

Some of my greatest elmers are now "Silent Keys"... KW4P, W4DX, K4KR, WB5DRE, W4FX

May God Bless their memories †††

Current holders of these calls have big shoes to fill!!

Christian husband and father. Love to share my Faith †

Even if it means losing Facebook Friends or Twitter Followers and not participating in local amateur radio club/group functions. Two of my favorite internet social media 'hangouts'. Have discovered that those who consider themselves as an atheist enjoy bashing and ridiculing someone who believes in an 'unseen God' or a 'mythical' Savior named Jesus Christ. Yet, I've personally witnessed unexplainable events that prove (If only to myself?) that there is a Spirit World where Good vs Evil. You have to CHOOSE to believe! Folks who've mocked God and each met untimely deaths are a common occurance these days. But, disbelievers have to have things SHOWN to them. God doesn't have to reveal Himself to anyone. We have to come to Him --- In FAITH †

I'll never deny my Heavenly Father -- Whatever the cost!!

Todays government seems bent on destroying the moral fabric behind our Constitution and it's just a matter of time before those who consider themselves as 'Bible Believers' are attacked on their homefronts. Be READY!!!

May God Help Those who adamantly reject HIM!! AMEN

There are a few 'ham radio' web sites that I am proud of due to the fact that I am their manager and creator. I spend a lot of time on the internet trying to encourage potential "hams" into obtaining their "ticket" (license). A lot of my time can be found being spent on Twitter and Facebook. Will have to 'Allow' you to Follow me on Twitter to avoid spammers and will have to 'Friend' you on Facebook for same reason. You will need an account in both places to participate. Sorry!! That's the internet!!

We especially enjoy it when we work folks we follow on Twitter or have Friended on Facebook!! Thanks folks!!

YouTube Video of QSO with then KD8NJZ here XXXXCraig is now NM8W (Extra Class).

Will have to Search my FULL name on Facebook. I'm the one in Jasper, AL

Special thanks to all of you who have followed up on our information over the years and have since obtained their own 'ticket.' Follow that up now by getting ur General!! QSL??

To date we have assisted a number of area hams in antenna and tower installations.

Also, have helped folks to find a vanity call sign that had their initials or had lettering that pertained to a specific interest. That was a real nice gesture... I thought!! Hi Hi Don't do that very often now these days. Will see what calls are available upon request though!

The "XYL", Carol is licensed as N4VBS

Our son, Timothy, is now licensed as K4TEP

All three of us here in the family are members of the ARRL

Currently, we are not members of any local amateur radio clubs or groups as of January 2010.

Nor do we recommend any of the known local groups or clubs. Just not for us!!

Part of the joy of this hobby is working events like School Club Roundups. We participate often!!

For a list of radio clubs across the state of Alabama Click HereWe offer no endorsements!!

We will continue to hold Field Day here as long as the ARRL will let us. We run the duration of the whole event! We were 2 Delta here. One station in Digital/CW mode and the other in SSB/Voice. We always submit logs to the ARRL. Year 2015 will be our sixth year here and we are already planning more stations! As an Echo?
