Greetings from N4NSP and W4ELK. Photo is of Gamby the Camping Cat. My wife, Libby (W4ELK), and I enjoy visting a cabin at Westmoreland State Park on the Lower Tidal Potomac River to operate portable HF and 2 Meter SSB on 144.200 MHz at FM18. We operate on 100-foot cliff overlooking the river. The antenna is an ELK2M/440 LPDA pointed just east of north to work stations into New England. The park has hiking trails, river access, and a new visitors center. We enjoy spending a long weekend at an available cabin with Gamby the Camping Cat. http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/wes.shtml When camping, I'm usually on 40 and 75 meters. Enjoy checking in on ECARS and the Virginia Fone Net. Also enjoy checking in on the Early Bird Transcontinental Net (EBTN) on 3940 KHz, my favorite late-night net or early morning net. Pre-net checkins begin around 0300 hours Eastern. The net may begin on 3941 KHz to avoid QRM. Please check in, fix a cup or 2 of coffee, and follow the net from 0445 to 0600 hours. Also listen to the CBC Northern Service on 9625 KHz and CFRX (CFRB) on 6070 KHz. www.cbc.ca/north/ I'm a NREMT-Intermediate with Gloucester County VFRS www.gvfrs.org Use the Comprehensive, Guide I, and Mountain Medic II Adventure Medical Kit. Have ACLS, PALS, P-ITLS, and PEPP. 73s, Tom G., N4NSP Va Fone Net #40, EBTN #813, & ECARS #4273 Note Board not enabled.
