I went right out of the gate doing my novice written and tech written and 5 WPM and achieved what then was simply known as a Technician license. Later it became a Tech Plus when they came out with the no-code tech license but by then I had moved up in code to General and then the Advanced written test. I remained an Advanced Class operator from 1991 until January of 2008. Since I had moved I opted to change my call to N4RTD and I have upgraded to Amateur Extra. In 2008 I am finding myself becoming more "radio active" and exploring other aspects of the hobby. When I am home I monitor the 145.21 repeater located near Riverview in Balm, FL. This repeater has great coverage around the Tampa Bay area. It uses a 77 Hz tone and has a minus offset. It is connected to Echolink, node # 342674. You will also find me on APRS (both at home and when on the road). Check out http://www.aprs.fi to see APRS stations on the air including mine. I enjoy operating PSK31 on 10-80 meters, as well as voice and RTTY. You might also catch me on Echolink. If you see me on Echolink be sure to connect to me and say hello. 30MDG# 0586. You might also catch me on an OMISS net. OMISS # 6207. Check out my eQSL status page at http://www.eqsl.cc/Member.cfm?N4RTD Location is 13.5 miles southeast from downtown Tampa, FL.
