1.5 kW Mobile Amp!

1.2 kW Mobile

Hi, My name is John,

I live just North of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd, VA.

I like to operate mobile, however, my log keeping mobile, leaves a lot to be desired.

My transceiver is a K-3 purchased just prior to the Dayton Hamvention of 2011, serial #5412.,and the KPA-500 amp, the beam is a DX engineering HEX BEAM at 38 feet. The controller is a Green Heron and antennas include a B&W folded dipole, an R-8 vertical and an OCFD for forty meters. A KAT500 is on order from Elecraft.

Maggie, is a four year old Labradoure Retriever, she brings me my shoes, my hat, my keys or anything I drop..She loves the water and tennis balls, I trained her to be a duck retriever, so far the rubber duck in the photo is the only duck she has retrieved. She adds to the confusion when I am operating from the car or truck.

Photos below:#1 Maggie , #2 Stirring Apple Butter in a large copper pot, an anualevent on the Blue Ridge Parkwayocuringevery Fall.. ;#3;TheDXDinner at Dayton 2011-GrandPrize winner Seth from Sweeden, AS I PREDICTED HE DID WIN!!!

I am getting my feet wet in the digital modes, after many years of being away from ham radio, I find it is a whole new world. So if you hear me messing up PSK-31 or trying something else which makes me look like a flopping fish looking for water, please be patient.

Thanks for droping by..
