Born in Pontiac, MI Jan 1938. First call WN8URO Dec 1954. I took my general 4 months later and dropped the N. Over the years I've been KP4AOO, W4SYL, VP1SYL, W5UDK and picked up N4ZC in 1977. I've operated from over 40 countries, some on the rare side, like Kure, Midway and Desecheo.

I work both CW and SSB with DXing, contesting and rag chewing my main on air operation. 5BWAS 5BDXCC and 1DXCC hang on the wall.

I put one hitch in the Navy before changing to the USCG to finish out my 20 years. I retired as a communications CWO Jan 1, 1978.

The current rig is an IC-746PRO AL-1200 and a 12 el LP (T-12) @130'. Dipoles for the low bands.

My other passion is music. I collect music and have over 86,000 recordings in my collection, all on a 750 GB HD. I've been doing a big band radio show on the Gaston College station WSGE for 31 years. My web page has a wealth of big band era info and a link to listen to my show via the internet. Click on Our State to see pictures and more bio info.

My Big Band era radio show can be heard Sunday 1800-2200Z WSGE.org  click Listen Live

A new interest is looking up ancestry info.

Let me know if I have anything you need for your collection.

I'm on Skype if anyone wants to talk.
