First licensed in 1988 and my current call since December 1997 .... Now using a YAESU FT-2000 with NS 3 khz Roofing Filter Mod : see http://www.ac0c.com for filter information, and FT-2000 latest version firmware ( 11.54 .158 ), Alpha 99 amplifier, ....Yaesu FT-990 and Ameritron AL-80A as backup gear,WinTest ver. 4.10.0 for contest logging , Cushcraft A3 @ 70 feet, A3@ 40 feet, inverted-vees for 40, 75/80, 160 @ 40',55',65',K9AY Loop for lowband receiving, single element aluminum dipole mounted horizontal for 12M up abt 50 feet. In my pickup truck I have a Yaesu FT-857D and antenna is the Yaesu ATAS-120A with power at about 100 watts. As of 15 December 2011 , I have re-installed HF mobile gear into 2012 SILVERADO and seems as if all is working just fine and muchless noise to contend with . I do use the NB feature with the radio and see a S 0 background level on receive when on the open road away from the city and powerlines. The vehicle is bonded very well with braided ground straps and I have never seen any RF problems into any of the truck's instrument gauges while transmitting. Thanks to K0BG for all of the excellent information for proper HF mobile installation and noise abatement.

It has been a great help in getting my ignition noise level reduced.
