I was first licensed in 1991 while living in Southern California. I currently live in Forest Ranch which is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range just outside Chico, CA. (80 miles north of Sacramento) I have been in the Chico area since about 1985. After being off the air for a number of years, my interest was "re-sparked" which motivated me to upgrade my license and buy more equipment. Around Christmas 2010 I put up a 160m loop antenna for the low bands, but it tunes on all bands 160-6m. It's not too high (ranges from about 20 to 35 feet) and is shaped like a blob, but it seems to work quite well.
In July 2011 I acquired an Icom IC-7600 and the Kenwood TS-2000 has been relegated to backup status and 2m / 70cm work. Also in July 2011 I installed a 3-element SteppIr with the 40m option. This and the 160m loop are the only antennas that see RF these days. My other interests include: Dan Zan Ryu Jujitsu (relates to my choice of callsign), woodworking, digital photography, 4-wheeling, working in the yard, and of course, spending time with family. Since I am still working full time, these hobbies do not get much attention right now. but I am primed for retirement! Last modified: 2011-07-11 20:26:16, 1500 bytes cached
