According to the FCC there are approximately 28,000 amateur radio licenses in the state of New York including only 21 active licenses with the N6 prefix which is normally used for the west coast. I guess that makes my call N6PAT somewhat of a rarity for New York
Got my ticket 2007-04-11 but didn't get on the air until 2012-09-04 due to business and family obligations.
The antenna is a ground mounted Hustler 6 band vertical. Nothing fancy but it works very well - all 50 states and 78 countries on an FT817 with just 5 watts from 2012-09-04 to 2013-02-13 and 79 additional countries with the FT817 and a 45 watt amp from 2013-02-14 to 2013-04-30. Added a Tokyo Hy Power HL-450B 400 watt amp and FT450D on 2013-05-17. Putting out 300+ watts.
Now at 244 countries
DXCC 6 bands (just got 100th country on 80 for 7 band DXCC pending confirmations)
WAS 5 watts.
