Making progress on North Cooks expedition planning. Hotel has been reserved and we are looking at booking airline tickets and reserving call signs.
Work is progressing on activating Middle Cay in November. We expect to obtain formal landing rights within the next 4 weeks. Work continues on planning, team selection and acquiring equipment. Please consider contributing to our cause @ www.vk9wa.com . Charter boat cost is coming in around $40K USD, which will account as the largest single line item expense within our operational budget.
In an effort to keep costs at a minimum, we have planned this to be a micro light expedition. Our station equipment will consist of several Elecraft K3/KPA500 and SteppIR CrankIR verticals on the beach. Each station will be powered by Honda 2000EU generators.
SteppIR Big vertical - 70 radials & 2000' feet of 14 gauge wire on a rare snowy day in Seattle.
