My name is Dan, I first got started in radios with the 11 meter CB band and SW receivers at age 12. I received my first HT for Christmas a Radio Shack Pro-41 scanning receiver which I still have today. I have been licensed since March 2005 as KD8BER, I received my current vanity call a few months later. I enjoy Ham radio alot and have met many great friends on the air. Upgraded to General Class April 18, 2009 and my wife N8CMC (also a vanity call) received her Technician Class that same day. Other hobby's include spending time with my 2 boys ages 4 years and 7 years old, NASCAR, Late Model dirt track racing, sprint cars, traveling, outdoors, bird watching, Steam Engines, Railfanning, music, and FTA Satellite
My interests include DXing, Contesting, Nets, and Special Event Stations on 160-10 meters, main mode of operations is SSB Phone and now PSK-31, I run 100 watts on HF with no amplifiers (yet), 6 meter FM/SSB and 2 meter FM/SSB and 440 UHF. I monitior 147.480 FM simplex with a 192.8hz tone, N8DUY 145.150 100hz tone, WD8IEL 145.450 100hz tone, or W8JXN 146.880 100hz tone.
